Another NIV Quiz

I have been meaning to get back to my "Which Bible?" posts, and just haven't done it. One of these days I am going to do an expose' on Wescott and Hort, two men who prepared some of the manuscripts that were used in the translating of the 1881 Revised Version, and which have been used in every Bible translation (revision) that has been done since then. Until then, take this quiz, and ask yourself WHY men would change these things in a Book that claims to be the very words of God, and what spirit would lead them to do so.  If you are new to my blog, please go read my other posts on "Which Bible?" under Categories on my sidebar, and begin at the bottom.

  1. Interesting. We've been having some discussion about Bible versions at our Bible study lately. We have one woman who will not use NIV, only her KJV. Everyone else mostly uses NIV (it's at a Presby church). I just think the different versions are interesting.

  2. Thank you for taking the time to answer my question!

I like what you've said about the NIV. I understand people's desire for an easy-to-understand Bible. What I don't understand is, why was it considered necessary to omit so much of the KJV text? As it is, the KJV differs in some ways from the original Hebrew OT and Greek NT. The further you get from that, the further you get from the original Word.

  3. Sorry, what I was referring to is the next to last statement /question on the Quiz above. It said the KJV is copyrighted by God...

  5. Hello Dear!

Wow, I didn't know that the same guy owns both Zondervan & Harper Collins/Satanic bible/church - I just makes you wonder.... Why doesn't Zondervan try to pull out of this "arrangement" - you would think that they know?

  6. This will be very interesting to share with my dc who love their Zondervan NIV Bibles. I believe (if you don't mind) I will also post this on MySpace. I would love for my nieces and nephews to see this (most of them are not saved and the Lord is really working on them).

    Blessings,

    JEN
