Swamp cooler dust. It is getting warm enough that by late afternoon the house needs cooling, especially if I am going to turn on the oven. The first time the swamp cooler is turned on each spring, the house is filled with a white cloud -- kind of makes me think of the tabernacle being filled with the glory of the Lord, only he did not leave a holy residue on all the furniture!
Yesterday the girls washed the car; ironically their daddy was probably scraping ice off of his at the same time. The man of the house departed at noon on Sunday for Minnesota. After 32 hours of driving, one hour of sleep, and a quick stop for breakfast with our pastor in Kansas, he made it to his brother's place south of the Twin Cities. We are hearing reports of 8' drifts and 15' mountains of plowed snow. I sure am glad THIS was a record snowfall year. Next year isn't likely to be one, especially with global warming. Right, Jane? :)
LOL, global warming. Yes, we are having below normal temps as well as all winter. Oh, that dust would be horrible. How is the house hunt going?
ReplyDeleteOh the grass is always greener.... I want the sand! And I would take a Minnesota winter too. I dearly miss the dry weather. Its just humid here all the time.
ReplyDeleteSwamp Cooler! Now there is a word folks back here would not understand. What a blessing it was when we lived in the desert.
Swamp Cooler? What in the world? Is that different from an air conditioner? I know our ac doesn't spread dust everywhere...well at least not that we can tell from the regular dust!
ReplyDelete"Swamp Cooler". Never heard that one, even back in Georgia! But, everyplace has its woes. I heat and cook with an antique woodburning cookstove, and there is always thick dust on everything. I have to sweep the ceiling and walls each week. If I don't, it begins looking like Spanish Moss growing everywhere.
ReplyDeleteMy prayers are with you, and your husband, on the move.

AUGH, I think I just lost the comment I was doing. Anyways...ROFLOL, Holy Residue! See, I'm not the only one that had never heard of a swamp cooler until I met you. Won't need that here.
ReplyDeleteHa! Brings back memories of my childhood in Phoenix. We only had swamp cooling, and my memories of it were damp sheets, sugar bowl and salt shaker a solid lump, and the dank smell of the cooler pads.
ReplyDeleteHope your packing is going well!
