A Great Start to the New Year

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth;
but thou shalt meditate therein day and night,
that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein:
for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous,
and then thou shalt have good success.
Joshua 1:8

  2. Actually, Julie, every day starts this way in our house. No Bible, no breakfast. :-D The title could have been "A Great Start to a New Day".

  3. "No Bible, no breakfast."
    Sally, you've inspired me once again!
    We're incorporating this tomorrow AM :-).
    But curiously, do they have a devotion to follow and a certain amount of time that they must spend in the Word. And how about prayer? Do all of you gather afterwards and have prayer?

  4. The girls are encouraged to read through their Bibles at their own pace. The older three girls now do it at least once a year, following a schedule, and Emily is making progress in the New Testament. I don't know about their personal prayer lives. On school days we have devotions together with Bible reading by Mom, prayer together (also by Mom, but the others are encouraged to participate), and a good read-aloud. Dad leads the evening devotions after supper. We could -- and should -- do more. "Thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou walkest by the way, and when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up." :)
