From My Past

Last night as I was procrastinating going to bed, I thought I'd try to look up some old friends.  Google is as good a place to start as any, and I entered the name of a friend I knew in elementary school and high school.  Her name was mentioned in a blog, so I went to take a peek.  What a surprise!  I did not find my friend, but I did find the slide show that was shown at my Senior Brunch!  And look what was on it:

That's me with another long lost friend.  I have not been able to find her, either.   I don't think I was really lifeguarding, lol, and no, I did not normally dress that way for school... who knows.   I do recognize those tortuous shoes.   I did not recognize many of the people in the slide show, and one thing's for sure, we all looked a lot younger back then!  (And thinner, too, I might add.)  :(

Fun.

Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this. Ecclesiastes 7:10

  1. That would be quite a surprise! You two look so sweet. I don't think those shoes would be very comfy, now that you mentioned it. :-)

  2. The shoes are Candies are they not?!
I remember those torteous mule styled shoes with the heel...I never had the sophistication to quite pull them off.
Love, love, love the picture...you look a lot like Betsy there :-)!

  3. I'm sure I did not look sophisticated in them, Julie. More likely I tripped from one class to another and had to run back for a shoe occasionally! I don't know if they were Candie's -- more likely they were cheap copies. :)

Funny you think I look like Betsy. She's waaay prettier than I am. I don't see her here at all, but I do in some of my baby pics.

  4. Your friend in the pic looks to me like Saji (sp?) If so, Andy has seen her at St. Joe's Hospital where she is a doctor.

  5. That would be S-a-j-e-e, and no, that's not her. This is Susan. But thanks for the tip, Dad! :)

  8. It is good to catch up with people. Not too long ago I took the plunge into facebook and was delighted to find all kinds of people from all over the world I had lost contact with. Some I was thrilled to see they were still following the Lord, their marriages had survived and so on. Others were a little devastating and grieved me deeply. Overall I'm glad I took the plunge and my prayer list just got a little longer!
    God bless you!

  9. This is great, and it reminded me of my own experiences with social media and its ability to help us relive some fond memories. Your scripture was so timely for me, however, and I am going to share it with my husband. There have been recent news articles about pastors doing wild things via Facebook, and I had an old boyfriend now "follow" me on Twitter. Oy. My husband and I have had several opportunities to talk about this very issue--how much of the past to leave behind? Thanks for sharing.
