Sincere thanks to all of you bloggers who wished me a happy birthday today!
Daddy and 3 yo. sang Happy Birthday to me at about 8:00 this morning. He took me out for authentic Mexican food for lunch, and then to Dollar Tree, where he treats each of his girls on their birthdays. He picked a birthday card off the rack had me read it, then put it back. That was my card from my husband. The thing is, it said, "Happy 45th Birthday!" I am 44. I pointed this out to him, and he said, "Well, good! We can come back here next year and I will hand you the same card. And the next year after that I can hand you that same card again, and you will be impressed that I still think you look 45!" What a goof!
I came home and opened presents from my girls. Emily gave me a pile of popsicle sticks, a shell, a sand dollar, and a special scribble. I later learned she also wanted to give me some of my own Tupperware lids, but a big sister talked her out of it, lol! (I would have to say, that is better than the pile of carefully hoarded used drinking straws one of my other girls gave their Dad when she was about the same age! LOL!!!) Amy gave me a cute Sculpey creation, two teeny dolls sitting at a huge table, with a cake on it. Plus, something that is my favorite color, another bag of Hershey Nuggets , yay! Alison crocheted a beautiful cotton dishcloth (she really does do a beautiful job) and also gave me an interesting bowl (I say interesting, because it foreshadowed my next gift), which had M&M's all over it. And yes, my next gift was a big bag of M&M's from Elisabeth. Amy baked my birthday cake, and Alison and Mr. Thrifty cleaned up the kitchen and my sweet eldest even scrubbed my kitchen sink! All gifts were made and given with lots of love and affection -- what a dear, special, sweet family I have!
I am glad to hear you had a good day.

Glad you had a special day - sounds like you were queen for a day! Glad you didn't send the day just blogging either :). Can't wait to see what you make out of the popsicle sticks. The card from your dh sounds like something my dh would do too - if he knew he dared. And how nice is that to not only get your cake, but that they cleaned up afterwards so well. Okay Cinderella, the party's over - time to get back to work. lol
ReplyDeleteHappy Be-lated Birthday!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had a great day. You're family sounds like such a blessing. :)

I would love for you to email me your personal testimony on "dressing". Thank you so much for even offering to share it with me.
ReplyDeleteActually from the things I have read in your blog, I feel you give out the truth in a humbly manner; always full of grace and most of all in a loving way. I'll pray for you because you asked, but I honestly do not feel you need it for this.
Sally I want you to know I feel you are such an awesome person and if there were more people like you in this world, we would not have so many confused Christians in this day and age. I am so grateful to God for putting you in my path at a time when I not only need, but want the truth. Nothing added and nothing TAKEN AWAY!
In Christ,
JEN
What a great birthday! And, true, Thrifty--LOL! I love the "take the card off the rack and read it" kind of card-giving. We have so many of them piled up around here over the years, I begin to wonder, "What do I do with them all?"
ReplyDeletePookles, I think, are wrinkles (no NOTICEABLE whiskers yet--ha!), because my husband and I are both now beginning to sport those. And Audiam is "I shall hear". Deus Audiam (title? I gues, of my blog), then, I shall hear God.
Thanks for stopping in. I'll be back by, now that I've met you.

Well, what a lovely blog you have! I was excited to get the url's from you - but I have to admit I was surprised at how much content was in them all! I am not even close to done reading all of them. Your daughter's blogs are darling! I'm really enjoying them. And now I'm so glad to see you have one - I find it so much easier to feel in-touch with long-distance friends through blogging! Phone and email sometimes escapes me, but I can always check a blog at 1am when time finally allows~ hahaha!
ReplyDeleteI did post links for all of them on the LBC page and also on my own website - www.amandahockett.com ~ I am discovering that there are several people in our church who have blogs that I did not even know about....so maybe I'll have more links on LBC page in the future. We'll see!
Have a great week! OH, and happy birthday again! I really enjoyed your visit - I just love your family! TTYL!
