Grocery Bills Again

Thank you, Jane and JoAnn, for helping me out with my grocery question (see post below).  I guess I feel a teeny bit better, not about the amount of money the belly god is getting from us, but that I am doing better than two of my friends.   I would still like to hear from others of you.  Does anyone out there spend less than $100 per person, per month on groceries?  If so, I would like to know how you do it (besides growing your own produce, because we can't do that here).

  1. This is something I am also struggling with. I was a work outside the home mom until Nov. of last year. The Lord has brought me home to home school my children and take care of my family as that is what His will is for my life and I am still trying to get used to our new journey with the Lord. He has been on me about budgeting, so this post could not have come at a more perfect time in my life (then again, His timing is always perfect). I am going to check out the links you provided and will be back to find out what other responses you get from this.

Thank you for allowing the Lord to use you in such an awesome way.

    God Bless.

  2. Hi Sally~

I used to spend about $100 per week on groceries for 6 of us. But in the last year or two - as prices have increased and my children have grown into ever -hungry teens - I am spending between $500 and $600 a month for 6 of us. I only clip coupons occasionally and shop most of the time at a warehouse type grocery store. I do buy some things at Costco in larger quantities like fresh vegetables, and dairy products. It is a never-ending challenge trying to make the dollar stretch a little further, especially when my children/teens are eating more and more. I cook most everything from scratch when I have time, and every once in a while I'll use a box mix for something.

All that to say, I guess I don't have any super solutions for you. I think the one thing that saves us the most money is cooking and baking from scratch.

God bless you in the "shopping challenge."

  3. Thank you so much Sally. I am forever trusting in Him, knowing that if He brought me home He will see me through. I just have to be more aware of His prodding and not ignoring Him when it does not make sense to me. He has also brought me a lot of new friends who are trusting Him for the same and their awesome advice and prayers help a lot.

May the Lord Bless you with all His provision,

    JEN
